Improve the World

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” – Anne Frank

Of all the challenges that face Success-Minded People, improving the world is the hardest to grasp.  I mean think about it, this is the world we are talking about.  How can one person make a difference in the lives of the billions on this planet?  When you really come down to it, do I honestly matter in the large scheme of things?  I may matter to my family, my business, my church or my circle of friends, but I can’t matter to the world.  It is just too big and I am far too small.

 IT ALL STARTS WITH ONE

Now that we got that out of the way, let’s face some facts.  If you study history at all you know that every time there has been great changes it all boils down to one person.  Sure others are a part, no one can succeed by themselves, but there is a leader – someone in the front saying “Come on everyone.  Go this way.”  Look into the achievements in science, medicine, war, exploration, invention and on and on and you will find someone who had the vision, who leads the way, who did the impossible.  They all had something in common with athlete Bill Toomey who said, “It is always possible to improve.”

 CREATED FOR A PURPOSE

Success-Minded People need to understand that you will either improve the world or you will drag it down.  There is no standing still – ever!  It is contrary to the laws of nature.  Even the dead decompose and change the soil.  So, if you are going to cause change anyway, why not make it for the better?  If someone is going to make a difference, why shouldn’t that someone be you?  God has placed you here for a reason and that reason was not to fill a space.  He had intended all along that you would make a difference and improve the world for the better.  He is a good God and is always looking out for our best.  It was for the betterment of others that God in His love created you.

 YOU ARE THE ONE

Philosopher Robert M. Pirsig said, “The place to improve the world is first in one’s own heart and head and hands.”  You start with the one thing you have control of – you!  Be the best you that you can be.  Be a Success-Minded Person who has integrity, loyalty, is kind and generous.  A person who can be depended on and trusted at all times.  Allow yourself to be creative and adventurous reaching for the impossible with a heart that believes (as Zig Ziglar always says) that “You can have anything in life that you want as long as you help enough people get what they want.”  All this and more are in you right now, you only have to draw it out.

 THE GAME CHANGER

I believe that each of us make the world better when we make ourselves better.  We are all part of the same human race and when one improves we all improve.  I also believe that there are those among us who are the game changers.  They are the ones God has gifted to make the big changes in the world.  I have prayed for many years that the Lord would allow me to find those people.  That in some small way I may encourage them and help them on the way.  That person may be you.  I believe that you could well be the one that we have all been looking for to do the impossible.  All we need is for you to believe it too.
